Divide winter into three useful stages
- Review: identify one or two priorities using summer evidence and an initial assessment.
- Build: repeat improved movements and gradually increase difficulty.
- Transfer: add realistic pace, variation, scoring plans and match pressure.
Winter priorities by role
Batters may rebuild a scoring option or improve decision-making against a particular line. Bowlers may stabilise a run-up, stock ball or release before practising variations. Wicketkeepers and fielders can accumulate safe, high-quality repetitions while also developing movement and conditioning.
See the cricket fitness guide for general workload boundaries and private coaching options for booking information.
Keep recovery in the plan
The off-season should not become an uninterrupted extension of summer. Players need physical and mental recovery, particularly after high bowling workloads. Pain or injury concerns require appropriate professional assessment rather than simply adding more technical practice.
